For the third time this year, 18 second-year apprentices from the VW plant in Mosel took part in the project days.

New group, same programme, different results. Once again, the project began with a reflection on their own values and affiliations. The group also had to agree on 3 common group values. The result after an intensive discussion: health, respect and safety are the most important values. Success and prosperity were also shortlisted. Kevin took over the second part on Monday on the topic of AI and fake news for Mekosax, the birthday boy of the day. There was a lot of interest and good questions from the trainees and the atmosphere was always good.

On Tuesdays, speakers from the NDC Saxony teamed up to talk about discrimination. Operating principles, consequences for those affected and opportunities for courageous action were discussed and practised. Last but not least, the day focussed on what a non-discriminatory training centre can look like.

The thematic conclusion of the time in the Old Gasometer was the topic of the NSU. The trainees – who were still small children when the NSU ‘unmasked itself’ – were very interested in how the murders, the authorities’ failure to investigate and other right-wing terrorist attacks came about. A critical debate and intensive discussions on how such acts can be prevented in the future characterised the atmosphere on Wednesday.

Many thanks to everyone involved!
