Over 150 pupils from 6 different schools from Zwickau and the surrounding area came to the Old Gasometer to mark the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War in Europe.
The film ‘The Glass Room’ is set towards the end of the Second World War and tells the story of the eight-year-old boy Felix, who flees to Bavaria with his mother while his father is fighting at the front. In an environment permeated by National Socialist propaganda, Felix begins to differentiate between loyalty, truth and lies. The so-called ‘glass room’ in particular, a classroom with a miniature model landscape in the Nazi style, becomes a symbol of seduction through ideology. The film vividly shows how children can be influenced by political systems and raises questions about morality, manipulation and personal responsibility.
After the film, the pupils discussed questions about the film at various tables. The results show: Young people have an awareness of the National Socialist era or are currently developing one. This is where professionals need to start to ensure that inhuman ideology has no place in our society.

This event is co-financed by tax revenue on the basis of the budget approved by the Saxon state parliament.
