Finally, Theodoros Boulgarides’ memorial tree also has a sponsoring organisation. This year, the youth advisory council of the city of Zwickau has taken over the commemoration of NSU victim Theodoros Boulgarides.

To mark his birthday, home-made cranes were hung on the tree today. With the crane as a symbol of wisdom, longevity and happiness, we remember the ten people who were murdered by the so-called NSU – against forgetting, colourful paper cranes fly in the wind on each of these people’s birthdays. With their commitment, the young people of the Youth Advisory Council show that they are taking a stand against forgetting. To this end, they took part in a workshop on the victims’ biographies on Tuesday. The racist murders, but also the racist investigations by the police and the questionable roles of the offices for the protection of the constitution were part of this introduction to a topic that is closely linked to Zwickau.

This measure is co-financed with taxpayers’ money on the basis of the budget approved by the Saxon state parliament.
