Café in the powder tower – coffee, cake, short talks and a concert

On 6 September, in perfect late summer weather, Muldeparadies was transformed into a rebellious yet cosy Pulverturm Café. More than 350 guests enjoyed drinks, coffee and music in the countryside and marvelled at how the listed Pulverturm ensemble was quickly converted into a street café. The square filled up especially after 6 p.m.: in the ideas competition for Zwickau’s future, the audience vote went to a deposit ring system for rubbish bins. The other places went to the vision ‘Zwickau – City of Colourful Walls’, a Mulde swimming pool and the sporting redesign of the Schwanenteich pond. As darkness fell, the atmospheric lighting of the ghetto block created a special atmosphere before Acid.Milch&Honig opened the dance floor. Many visitors were already asking: will the café be open more often? The idea is being considered – perhaps monthly from next summer.
