What matters to me? What matters to us? And how free is our opinion really?

These questions were explored by young people from the Zwickau region during a workshop for participants in the Voluntary Social Year (FSJ). In an intensive full-day format, they reflected on their personal values, developed shared group values, and critically engaged with the topic of freedom of expression.
A special highlight was a structured debate on the question: “Should working hours in Germany be generally reduced?”
Participants demonstrated their ability to argue, adopted different perspectives, and experienced how discussions can be both controversial and respectful.
The workshop provided space for self-reflection, exchange, and perspective shifts – and showed how important it is to give young people opportunities to develop and express their views on social issues.
A day full of inspiration, dialogue, and democratic practice.
Many thanks to IWS Westsachsen for the invitation.
