The creation of meeting places in Pölbitz and Neuplanitz is a central concern of the “Committed to the Neighborhood” project. The project aims to strengthen local cohesion and facilitate exchange between different population groups. Since the fall, the project has been offering coffee klatches at the Hermann Duncker allotment garden on Franz-Mehring-Straße. These informal gatherings provide a low-threshold and cozy setting for conversations between neighborhood residents and interested guests.

After a tentative start in October 2025, the second coffee gathering has now taken place. The response to the event was significantly greater than at the first gathering, and with a total of 13 people, the clubhouse was almost full. Fortunately, there were some new visitors who wanted to find out more about what was on offer in their neighborhood. The meeting place in the clubhouse of the allotment garden provided a pleasant and informal atmosphere once again. The participants engaged in relaxed conversations about the neighborhood, general events, and everything under the sun.

The aim of the format is to create a space for open communication and getting to know each other. The informal atmosphere of the discussions allows participants to exchange ideas beyond formal structures. The increasing number of participants in the second round demonstrates the interest in open and low-threshold meeting formats.

The coffee klatch is set to continue in 2026 as an integral part of the “Engagiert im Quartier” (Committed to the Neighborhood) project. The next coffee klatch will take place on January 15, 2026, at 2:30 p.m. This strengthens neighborly relations and promotes local culture.
