At the beginning of the new year, people from the neighborhood met again at the clubhouse of the Hermann Duncker allotment garden for what is now the third coffee klatch. Over homemade cake and sand cookies, those present exchanged new ideas and welcomed several new faces to the growing community. The event provided a space for intergenerational exchange and strengthened social networking within the neighborhood.
In the first neighborhood meeting of the year, a review of the first Pölbitz district Christmas market, which celebrated its premiere last December, was a central topic of discussion. The response from guests was overwhelmingly positive—many Pölbitz residents were simply thrilled that such an event was taking place right on their doorstep. The event was evaluated in detail and initial suggestions for improvement were noted for the future. These mainly concerned technical aspects and an improved performance area for the participating dance club. All those involved were in favor of a new edition this year, and other neighborhood stakeholders have also signaled their interest in enriching the Christmas market.
The neighborhood initiative is looking forward to 2026 with enthusiasm and is already planning the next steps to revitalize the district. In February, a combination of the popular coffee klatch and a short winter barbecue will take place to make the most of the cold season outdoors together. To increase the accessibility of the initiative, a general information flyer will be created in the near future. This will inform interested parties about the goals and opportunities for participation in Pölbitz and increase the visibility of the volunteer work.
In addition to cultural revitalization, the focus in the coming months will be on beautifying the immediate living environment. The committed participants agreed to carry out a joint spring cleaning to enhance public areas in the neighborhood. To this end, they are looking for people from Pölbitz who would like to join in.
Such activities promote a sense of responsibility for one’s own neighborhood and strengthen the cohesion of the community in the long term. Continuing the neighborhood activities ensures quality of life in the long term and promotes social harmony in the Pölbitz neighborhood.
