After an exciting 2025, neighborhood work in Neuplanitz will continue to focus this year on creating meeting places and sustainably strengthening community spirit among residents through low-threshold offerings.

A central component of these efforts is the mothers’ meeting in Neuplanitz. Since November 2025, this service has been offered on the premises of Lichthaus Zwickau e.V. on Neuplanitzer Straße. Mothers from the neighborhood have the opportunity here to take a break from the demanding everyday life with children. In a protected setting, participants discuss topics related to parenting and child development.

At the same time, the group offers space for guests’ individual concerns. This also includes practical help, such as support with online registration at the job center or sharing concerns about relatives in conflict regions. The meeting serves as a place for listening and mutual support. All interested mothers from the neighborhood are invited to the next meeting on February 26.

The neighborhood meeting in January was initially used to intensively evaluate the past year and plan upcoming projects for 2026. Neighborhood work in 2025 kicked off with a joint barbecue evening with the Lichthaus on the village square and the monthly citizens’ meetings (neighborhood meetings). Such formats encourage people to get to know each other in a relaxed atmosphere.

For the current year, the focus is on further networking with the people and stakeholders in Neuplanitz. The first parents’ café at the Pusteblume daycare center on February 5 at 3:30 p.m. marks the start of the activities. This offer is aimed at parents of the daycare center and the neighborhood, some of whom have a migrant background, who have had few social contacts in their immediate environment up to now.

Further measures to revitalize the neighborhood are planned for 2026. Among other things, a new neighborhood barbecue, a Neighborhood Day event, and a possible spring cleaning have been discussed. In addition, a summer cinema is being considered to expand the cultural offerings in the neighborhood. New supporters and committed Neuplanitz residents are always welcome, and anyone who has their own ideas for the neighborhood is welcome to contact the volunteer coordinator. All ideas pursue the goal of enabling the participation of all population groups and strengthening identification with the living environment.

Among other things, the outreach work in Neuplanitz underscores
the importance of a sociocultural presence in residential areas outside the city center. Cooperation with stakeholders from the district creates synergies that strengthen the social fabric.

Information about the project, topics related to volunteering, and offers from the Neuplanitz and Pölbitz neighborhoods can be found on the WhatsApp channel “Engagiert im Quartier” (Committed to the Neighborhood). The channel for volunteering in Zwickau.
