This year’s “Tanz in den Mai” on Zwickau’s Hauptstrasse once again impressively demonstrated just how popular this dance event is. The event transformed the street in the heart of the city into a place of gathering and cultural exchange for people of all ages.
Local players from the art and cultural scenes joined forces once again to make this event a reality. Participating organizations included the Zwickauer Fußballgeschichten association with ALOIS, Rote Baum Zwickau, and Projekt 46. Kevin Brewery, Villa Mocc, and Ape Catering provided culinary, organizational, and musical support for the event.
Around 350 people danced their way into the new month in a festive atmosphere. The musical program was spread across two different stages. The first stage featured electronic dance music, while the second stage was opened by the band Jagdster from Stollberg. Once again, a special attraction was the Roter Baum association’s karaoke station, located next to stage two. This time, it took place outdoors and drew many singing enthusiasts. Favorite songs were performed there late into the night, creating a lively and peaceful atmosphere.
The event was marked by a high turnout of families and remained completely peaceful throughout the evening. The aim of the event was to strengthen social cohesion and promote sociocultural participation in the urban environment. The positive response from visitors underscores the importance of such low-barrier cultural offerings. It is evident that combining music, singing, and food is an effective way to bring people of different backgrounds and age groups together.
