Since February 2026, the Parents’ Café in Neuplanitz has become a popular gathering place for people in the neighborhood. Organized by two dedicated after-school care staff members from the Pusteblume Daycare Center, this event took place in the daycare center’s garden. The event is open to families from the daycare center and anyone else in Neuplanitz who is interested. Participating families regularly bring food, and this usually results in a rich, international buffet.

In a relaxed atmosphere, conversations arose about everyday life, the children, and community life in the neighborhood. In addition to sharing experiences, this time everyone was able to come together. Various board games such as Kniffel, The Crazy Maze, Uno, and Connect Four were quickly set up and proved very popular at the tables. Card games like Rummy were also enjoyed by the guests and brought together people of different generations and backgrounds as they played together.

The shared meal was once again appreciated by all guests; it fosters a sense of community and mutual understanding of different traditions. No one left the event without a bite to eat and new insights. Lichthaus Zwickau e. V. was also on site and provided information about programs for children and teens in the neighborhood.

The café demonstrates how low-barrier programs can foster connection, diversity, and social participation at the local level. The next parents’ café will take place in September and will continue this community initiative in Neuplanitz.
